If the touchpad doesn’t work, do the following actions one at a time to correct the problem. After rebooting, run Tracking Pad PS2 Mode Driver. For example, run Syn touch driver. Run utility with the PS/2 mouse function and check if the mouse is working. A lot of eMachines systems are being sent to us for software problems caused by Viruses. It is essential to protect your eMachines laptops using the latest versions of anti-virus software and update the pattern files at least once a week. All laptops have a hinge joint between the screen and the keyboard part of the laptop. Some hinges routinely fail - eg the dell Inspiron and the Compaq Presario. Other hinges can be damaged by dropping the laptop. Some manufactures refuse to sell the hinges and insist that the hinge is an integral part of the screen and as such the whole screen should be replaced. We can usually supply working hinges from new and used machines we break up for spare parts. Backup your laptop atleast once a week. Laptops are cheap and replaceable but personal photograps, documents and software may be lost forever.
