Most LCD/TFT screens are damaged by impact. Dropping laptop or stepping on them causes the glass in the screens to crack. One customer reported that his cat tried to attack the fish on his wallpaper and cracked the screen. Shutting the Lewisham lid of the laptop with a pen on the keyboard will also destroy your screen.
