With more people using Wireless Advent PCMCIA and Cardbus adapters for networking at home and at work, we are seeing a lot of laptops with damaged PCMCIA ports. The problem seems to occur when the laptop is carried in a case without unplugging the Cheltenham wireless card. This causes the card to push into the port and break it or dislodge it from the socket on the motherboard.
