Some companies charge for diagnosis - up to £100+. They are then able to quote ridiculous prices for the repair because the diagnosis fee is already secured. A few of our customers sent their machines to manufacturers, paid a £100+ diagnosis fee and were quoted £600+ for the repair. They declined and came to us for a much more cost effective repair.

Other companies expect you to pay hourly rates. This is flawed logic as a good engineer takes less time to complete a repair than a bad one. It means you pay extra for their incompetence. Newer laptops are sold without floppy drives. The Sony CDRW and RAM cards have now replaced the 1.44Mb floppy drive. VGA Controller Failure - LCD No Display. Confirm LCD panel or monitor is good and check the cables are connected properly. Connect the I/O device & cables to the M/B one at a time to find out which part is causing the problem. If the touchpad doesn’t work, do the following actions one at a time to correct the problem. After rebooting, run Tracking Pad PS2 Mode Driver. For example, run Syn touch driver. Run utility with the PS/2 mouse function and check if the mouse is working.
