Other companies expect you to pay hourly rates. This is flawed logic as a good engineer takes less time to complete a repair than a bad one. It means you pay extra for their incompetence. Backup your laptop atleast once a week. Laptops are cheap and replaceable but personal photograps, documents and software may be lost forever. All laptops have a hinge joint between the screen and the keyboard part of the laptop. Some hinges routinely fail - eg the dell Inspiron and the Compaq Presario. Other hinges can be damaged by dropping the laptop. Some manufactures refuse to sell the hinges and insist that the hinge is an integral part of the screen and as such the whole screen should be replaced. We can usually supply working hinges from new and used machines we break up for spare parts.
