Most laptops have a built in modem. The Sony modem electronics are sometimes on the motherboard or on a separate card. If your Crystal Palace modem has failed then the first piece of equipment to check is the modem cable. Connecting another modem to the line may help to eliminate any line faults. We can supply internal modem boards for most Crystal Palace laptops. Machines with faulty onboard modems might have to resort to a PCMCIA. A write-enabled, diagnostic diskette is required. Make sure that the diskette does not have more than one label attached to it. Multiple labels can cause damage to the drive or cause the drive to fail. If an error occurs with the internal diskette drive, reconnect the diskette connector on the system board.If the error still remains reconnect the external diskette drive/DVD-ROM module and replace the external diskette drive/CD-ROM module.
