If the touchpad doesn’t work, do the following actions one at a time to correct the problem. After rebooting, run Tracking Pad PS2 Mode Driver. For example, run Syn touch driver. Run utility with the PS/2 mouse function and check if the mouse is working. Audio Failure. No sound from speaker after audio driver is installed. Check if speaker cables are connected properly. Make sure all the drivers are installed properly. Try another known good speaker, CD-ROM. Exchange another known good charger board.

Most laptops have a built in modem. The Sony modem electronics are sometimes on the motherboard or on a separate card. If your Chelsea modem has failed then the first piece of equipment to check is the modem cable. Connecting another modem to the line may help to eliminate any line faults. We can supply internal modem boards for most Chelsea laptops. Machines with faulty onboard modems might have to resort to a PCMCIA. The Portege keyboard is the main Acer interface between you and your Chelsea laptop. Laptop keyboard faults mainly result from liquid spills, wines/beers are very common, and from wear and tear. Most keyboards have a plastic Chelsea membrane where contacts are made by pressure on the keys. When liquids enter the membrane the contact points become ineffective. Sometimes keyboards behave normally after a spill but later fail as the Chelsea contacts are corroded away. In most cases the keypad needs to be replaced. In some cases only second user Samsung keypads are available as some manufacturers are reluctant to supply replacement part.
