The Lifebook keyboard is the main Advent interface between you and your Chesham laptop. Laptop keyboard faults mainly result from liquid spills, wines/beers are very common, and from wear and tear. Original Chesham parts maybe difficult to obtains with certain models. Wiping the Amilo surface of the pad with a safe cleaning fluid can resolve some touch pad faults.

When the LCD Screen on the laptop appears dim or dark the problem may be due to a backlight or inverter failure. In a few cases problems on the motherboard may also result is a backlight failure. The motherboard controls the brightness level displayed by the LCD panel.

There are many cables within your Lifebook laptop. There may be cables to connect the floppy drive, hard drive, display, inverter and CD Drive. Most cables have no problems. The inverter/display cable can have wear and tear problems. That cable is flexed every time the screen lid is opened and shut. A lot of Amilo cables get damaged when customer decide to dismantle their laptops. Cables are designed to be removed from their connectors by pulling the connector out - NOT YANKING THE WIRE. Many manufactures are now refusing to supply cables that connect the LCD to the motherboard - apparently the whole screen needs to be replaced(?). Be very careful with those cables. Optical drives include CD, CD rewriters, CD DVD Drives and Combo Drive - CD, CD rewrites with Chesham DVD. These drives can become faulty with use in areas where there is a lot of dirt or smoke. Keeping your media clean will also help to ensure that Chesham dirt does not enter your laptop. Electronic faults usually require the drive to be replaced.
