No Fix - No Fee is the best way.
Some companies charge for diagnosis - up to £100+. They are then able to quote ridiculous prices for the repair because the diagnosis fee is already secured. A few of our customers sent their machines to manufacturers, paid a £100+ diagnosis fee and were quoted £600+ for the repair. They declined and came to us for a much more cost effective repair.

Other companies expect you to pay hourly rates. This is flawed logic as a good engineer takes less time to complete a repair than a bad one. It means you pay extra for their incompetence. One minute over the hour and you pay for and extra hour, why?? Worse still, they expect you to pay even when they don't fix your laptop.

CD-Rs and CD-RWs might give you the impression that the eMachines drive is faulty when they are not recorded properly, incompatible or faulty. The BIOS will also give you information about your Compaq system such as type of CPU, Size of hard drive and the amount of RAM present

Most LCD/TFT screens are damaged by impact. Dropping laptop or stepping on them causes the glass in the screens to crack. One customer reported that his cat tried to attack the fish on his wallpaper and cracked the screen. Shutting the Clapham lid of the laptop with a pen on the keyboard will also destroy your screen. The PCG liquid then escapes into other layers of the panel. If you see cracks on the screen with a rainbow effect, your screen is a write off. It will need to be replaced with an identical unit. It is very rare to find Clapham compatibility between screen and in most cases only an identical replacement will work. Connecting a non-compatible may damage the Clapham motherboard or the new screen. Blemishes may appear on your LCD screen. These can be caused be excessive pressure on parts of the screen. Electronic faults on LCD panels include bands or blank areas on the Inspiron screen. The Inspiron keyboard is the main Dell interface between you and your Clapham laptop. Laptop keyboard faults mainly result from liquid spills, wines/beers are very common, and from wear and tear. Most keyboards have a plastic Clapham membrane where contacts are made by pressure on the keys. When liquids enter the membrane the contact points become ineffective. Sometimes keyboards behave normally after a spill but later fail as the Clapham contacts are corroded away. In most cases the keypad needs to be replaced. In some cases only second user Advent keypads are available as some manufacturers are reluctant to supply replacement part.
