No Fix - No Fee is the best way.
Some companies charge for diagnosis - up to £100+. They are then able to quote ridiculous prices for the repair because the diagnosis fee is already secured. A few of our customers sent their machines to manufacturers, paid a £100+ diagnosis fee and were quoted £600+ for the repair. They declined and came to us for a much more cost effective repair.

Other companies expect you to pay hourly rates. This is flawed logic as a good engineer takes less time to complete a repair than a bad one. It means you pay extra for their incompetence. One minute over the hour and you pay for and extra hour, why?? Worse still, they expect you to pay even when they don't fix your laptop.

The transformer on Compaq inverter may burn out and cause a backlight problem Faulty touch pads results in erratic Advent mouse movements. Faults are usually caused by spills, dirt and wear. Harpenden Clicker buttons can also become faulty. We can replace or repair most faulty touch pads and clicker buttons. Original Harpenden parts maybe difficult to obtains with certain models. Wiping the Tecra surface of the pad with a safe cleaning fluid can resolve some touch pad faults.

Remove the external keyboard if the internal keyboard is to be tested. If the internal keyboard does not work or an unexpected character appears, make sure that the flexible cable extending from the keyboard is correctly seated in the connector on the system board. If the tests detect a keyboard problem, do the following one at a time to correct the problem. Reconnect the keyboard cables with mouse, keyboard and the main board. Keyboard or Touch-Pad Error. Error message of keyboard or touch-pad failure is shown or any key does not work. Try another good Keyboard or Touch-pad. Check for liquid spills on keyboard.
