Some companies charge for diagnosis - up to £100+. They are then able to quote ridiculous prices for the repair because the diagnosis fee is already secured. Other companies expect you to pay hourly rates. This is flawed logic as a good engineer takes less time to complete a repair than a bad one. It means you pay extra for their incompetence. No Power - When the power button is pressed, nothing happens, power indicator does not light up. Is the notebook connected to power (AC or a charged battery)? Connect AC or battery. Try another known good battery or AC adapter. Power ok? Replace the faulty AC Adapter or Battery. Replace motherboard if still faulty. VGA Controller Failure - LCD No Display. Confirm LCD panel or monitor is good and check the cables are connected properly. Connect the I/O device & cables to the M/B one at a time to find out which part is causing the problem.
