No Fix - No Fee is the best way.
Some companies charge for diagnosis - up to £100+. They are then able to quote ridiculous prices for the repair because the diagnosis fee is already secured. A few of our customers sent their machines to manufacturers, paid a £100+ diagnosis fee and were quoted £600+ for the repair. They declined and came to us for a much more cost effective repair.

Other companies expect you to pay hourly rates. This is flawed logic as a good engineer takes less time to complete a repair than a bad one. It means you pay extra for their incompetence. Disconnect the power adapter and install the charged battery pack; then check that power is supplied by the battery pack. If you suspect a power problem. External Monitor No Display. There is no display or picture abnormal on CRT monitor, but it is OK for LCD. Confirm monitor is good and check the cable are connected properly. Remove all the I/O device & cable from motherboard except monitor and try again.

With more people using Wireless Time PCMCIA and Cardbus adapters for networking at home and at work, we are seeing a lot of laptops with damaged PCMCIA ports. The problem seems to occur when the laptop is carried in a case without unplugging the Pimlico wireless card. This causes the card to push into the port and break it or dislodge it from the socket on the motherboard. In some cased the Pimlico PCMCIA slot is soldered onto the motherboard and the force can pull the tracks off the pcb surface. Dislodged and broken ports can be repaired, but soldered ones may require a replacement of the whole motherboard. This expensive repair can be easily avoided unplugging the card before putting it in a carry case. USB Test Error. An error occurs when a USB I/O device is installed. Check if the USB device is installed properly. Worth trying another USB device or charge board.
